Balqees Shahin is 22 years old from Jordan and a representative from the Youth Advisory Board for the 2019 NLG Tech Summit. She has played a key role in the event planning, solution selections and mainly in echoing voices of other youth from The MENA Regional Adolescent and Youth Advisory Majlis (RAYAM).
Balqees has been involved in youth empowerment activities since 2017, including volunteering experience with UNICEF MENA regional office, and active participation at the Evidence Symposium Adolescents and Youth (ESAY) in 2017 and 2018. In 2017-2018 she worked with AIESEC, world's largest youth-run organization, as a Global Volunteer. She has been a core team member at HeForShe movement led by UN Women since January 2018 where she has worked in refugee camps to teach English. She has also participated in many public speaking and debates related to gender equality.
She is currently working as an international project manager with Support Youth Leaders (SYL), an NGO that works on youth empowerment through youth exchange and training abroad with Erasmus plus (European Union), through which she has participated in different engagements in Denmark, Estonia, Turkey, Morocco and in Jordan.
